Pa Pong Piang is a Karen hill tribe village in the mountains of Doi Inthanon National Park, and its terraces are some of the most striking in Thailand. Away from the city crowds, it shows Northern Thailand the way it has been lived for generations.
We leave Chiang Mai in the morning, stop at a local market, and arrive at the terraces before noon. Lunch is served in the fields, then your guide explains how rice is grown here and how the Karen community lives alongside the forest.
